So... Let's just dive right in shall we?!
The Scoop:
So we arrived in Las Vegas on Wednesday after a LOOONNNG flight. Well, at least it felt long. I actually have a tremendous fear of flying. I fly because I refuse to let a stupid fear keep me from living my life, but I ABSOLUTELY hate it...
Anyway, enough of that. After we arrived we had brunch and checked into our hotel. We didn't stay at The Orleans because it was completely booked. We were on the wait list but didn't take it when they called because they only had a room for 3 days. We were in Vegas a total of 6!!
After all of that we unpacked, took naps and then headed out to see Cee Lo Green's Vegas show "Loberace". A super fun, super sexy show that a former student of mine was dancing in. I wanted to snatch her off the stage a few times but it was a great show and a great way to start a long weekend in Vegas!
Soooo... on to Thursday... The first day of Viva!!
We woke up kind of early because I didn't want to be in a long line to get wristbands. But... by the time both of us got dressed and had brunch it was a little later than expected but that was fine. We were on vacation!!!!
Here was my day dress for Thursday
After we left the hotel we went straight to The Orleans!!!
Once inside we immediately bumped into Melanie from Incediary Blonde!!! I'm totally embarrassed to say that I didn't recognize her at first glance. But I think she caught me by surprise since I actually didn't expect anyone to recognize me!!! I've only been blogging for a little while so I assumed I would just blend in. Of course (as always when meeting new people) I was awkward and shy and probably a nerd and forgot to get a photo with her (ugh). But she was super nice and super pretty!!! I'm still mortified that I didn't get a pic!!
After getting wristbands, which didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would, we went upstairs to Sweet Pea's Hooch and Smooch. The Hooch and Smooch was basically just a meet and greet so that you could get to see who all was there and ease your way into the festivities. We weren't there 5 minutes when Wendi from Haute Rockabilly Fashionista came running up to me!! She was so friendly she put me at ease right away!!! She was with two of her friends who were also just as friendly and chatty. We all became fast friends!
(from left to right: Wendi's friend Teresa, Wendi, Honey, Me)
-Oh! I just realized this is the first pic of Honey I've ever put up!-
Unfortunately, our camera died shortly after so this is all of the pics I have of Thursday. Not much happened though. We stayed at the meet and greet for a while then went to dinner. We were so tired from travel that we called it an early night and went back to our room to prepare for the next day. There was a lot of hair setting and steaming clothes to do!
So on to...
FRIDAY!!!
Friday morning was filled with the same as the day before. We had an early rise since we went to bed so early the night before. We were FINALLY rested!!! Brunch, then off to The Orleans...
Friday's day dress (yes, you've seen it before)
Here is the hair!! I'm SUUPPEERR proud of how my hair looked all weekend. I think the dry air helped a lot. I'm hoping I can recreate these styles here in NYC!
The first event of the day was the "Secrets in Lace" Viva Las Vegas Fashion show
Wendi and Teresa were actually in the fashion show!! For some reason my camera was acting dumb so every pic I took of them came out super dark so... no pics of them... sad face...
Later that night was the FANTASTIC VLV Burlesque show!!! Goodness! The show was filled with beautiful women and great entertainment. If you are in any way a prude (which I'm sure NO ONE who attends Viva is) this show was definitely not for you. It was the dirtiest, most inappropriately delicious burlesque show ever, and I loved every dirty minute of it!!
There, of course, was no photo taking allowed in the show so you have to be satisfied with an evening outfit photo!!
Honey, fluffing her hair
A few shots of the Burlesque band
Afterwards was time for (attempted) gambling!!!! Geez we stink at that stuff... I gave up early...
This couple was amazing!! We watched them every time they got up to take a turn around the floor!! There was sooo much good dancing at Viva. It inspired Honey and I to get serious about practicing!
After a long night we ran into a fellow Brooklyn-ite!!! We've been Facebook friends for a while but this was our first ever in real life meeting!!! How cute is she!! Her hair look fab the entire weekend!!!
So there you have it...Days Wednesday through Friday in a nutshell!!! It is actually all a fabulous blur so I'm sure I'm forgetting some things...
I'll put up Saturday-Monday in a couple of days!!! That one will include the car show, Little Richard, Si Cranstoun (dreamy), the pool party and more!!!
xoxo
So much fun, thanks for posting all the details. I love hearing every word. Your outfits were just divine:) I hope you left Vegas with more money than you came with haha. I love Vegas:)
ReplyDeleteActually we won nothing the entire time!! We don't really gamble so maybe we just need practice.
DeleteAs if I wasn't jealous enough before! Now I definitely need to go next year!
ReplyDeleteYou and Honey both look awesome as does everyone you got a picture with - so much style in one place. Can't wait to meet people when next year rolls around. I love how friendly the vintage community is :) x
Yes! Go!! You won't be sorry! We have decided to go again next year!
DeleteYou look so cute. Love the outfits.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteYou and Honey look great! Glad you had a blast. Hey, that's my friend Shelley next to Honey in the blue dress with blonde hair ;) Counting the days until Viva 2014!
ReplyDeleteOh how funny is that?!? She was such a good time! Tell her I say hello!!!
DeleteYou all look beautiful! Glad it was fun.I hope to attend one year.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely go at least once! If you go with the right people you can't help but to have fun!
DeleteYou are one tall lady! I figured Honey would be the taller of the two. She has that confidence and stance that make her seem taller.
ReplyDeleteYou both look great! Hopefully I'll go next year.
Yep! I'm 5'7! Not super tall but taller than most. And I love to wear heels so I'm even taller most of the time!
DeleteI'm 5'6" and people always tell me that I look taller. My hubby likes it when I wear heels. He's into tall amazonian women. Maybe that's why he likes the red hair so much.

ReplyDeleteSo great to meet you two! I am sad that we didn't get a photo either!!! Especially as we ended running into each other a few times....we are bad bloggers! Hahahah! There's always next year... ;) Glad you both had a super fun time! xx
ReplyDeleteWe definitely have to get to know each other more next year!
DeleteYou have exquisite taste in fashion! Are you sure youre new to dressing vintage?? Next year at viva I look forward to meeting you!
ReplyDeleteOh!! That's so sweet of you to say!!! I definitely live by the motto just because it's vintage doesn't mean it's cute!".
DeleteAnd I really do hope to meet you next year!!!
What a stellar play-by-play! I just love how many photos you captured of this awesome Viva trip - and of course each and every one of the seriously gorgeous outfits you sported.

There's even more where those came from! Hope to get them up tonight or tomorrow!
DeleteI am so glad that you got to go to VLV, and for that I will be eternally envious! I MUST go next year! Every single outfit that you posted is divine, your hair and makeup are perfect, and Honey has the most wonderful makeup ever! I hope I'll see you both next year :)
ReplyDeleteThanks soo much!! I must admit that I cheated a little though! Honey is a MAC makeup artist so I made her do my face EVERY day in Vegas!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour dress!!! Love these pics--your dress and hair are fabulous, and you guys look like you had a lot of fun!!
